This site is an educational site for everyone that wants to learn more about our beautiful game of soccer.
Who am I?
My name is Jørn Antonsen.
My biggest passion in life is soccer. I have been involved in it in some form just about all my life.
Why should you read this site?
If you are a coach or a player who is looking for inspiration on how to become better, you will feel right at home here. I provide explanations of concepts, solutions to different problems in soccer (both on and off the field), practice drills, training ideas, periodization plans, match plans and overall strategies to make your soccer journey more enjoyable and effective.
Said in other words, the main objective of this site is to provide information that will make both coaches and players better and/or more effective.
As my current occupation is with a youth team (born 2010), a lot of the content will be related to youth soccer. However, most of it will be relevant for adult soccer as well.
Why should you listen to my soccer advice?
First of all I have years of experience coaching soccer. I had my first small job as a coach when I was 18 years old in 2000 for a small youth team that was about to be split up. Me and two other coaches managed to rescue the team during that season and several of those players went on to have good careers at a reasonably high level. Ever since that experience coaching has been an important part of my life.
I am now a UEFA licensed coach and I am planning to get the UEFA Player Development license in the near future.
My coaching philosophy
I embrace the idea in youth soccer of having as many players as possible, making them stay for as long as possible and making them as good as possible inside their own frames. I want to create a good environment in the team that players want to be a part of.
When it comes to more specific philosophies I am heavily influenced by Raymond Verheijen and his school of thought. I you don’t know what it is, I recommend checking out his web site fcevolution or his book “Football Coaching Theory – The Fundamentals Of How To Coach Football”.
